Architectural Gem / Juweeltje

This Chapel was built in 1964 to a design by architect Jos Schijvens. The stained-glass windows designed by Daan Wildschut. The chapel was built in memory of the fallen in World War II. The chapel stands on a small triangle behind the Schouwburgring. The chapel has become now, after fifty years a national monument. A small architectural gem.

I like it that it stands on a triangle. And there seems to be a triangular outcrop from the building!

A creative interpretation of the theme, and I like the style of the chapel!

I had thought of some of the triangles made by intersections in my city, but could not think of a way of getting high enough to show the shape. Well done to you for keeping with the idea.

Not everything built in the 1960s is good, but this chapel is an interesting building and memorial.

I love this architectural tribute to the fallen in WWII with its sharp angles. In looking at Schijvens' other works, he had a rich career honoring his community's efforts during the war through restorations and collaborations. Thanks for sharing this - clever use of triangle!
