This is the square that lies between the Capucijnenstraat and Meelstraat. The street name Meelstraat was officially adopted for the first time in 1900 by the city council. On the old map of A. Arts from 1870 this square is called the Achterompad, difficult to translate, but it means as much as the backdoor-path.
De straatnaam Meelstraat werd in 1900 voor het eerst officieel door de gemeenteraad vastgesteld, lopende Van de Capucijnenstraat snijdende de Paterstraat en de Diepenstraat tot de Korenbloemstraat. Op de kaart van A. Arts (ca. 1870) heet deze straat Achterompad.
