The Dutch magazine Vrij Nederland published pictures of shops and windows by the fotographer Stephan Vanfleteren. He searched for decrepid facades throughout Belgium: a melancholy portrait of disappearing small shops, village pubs closed, abandoned brothels and boarded facades. The Beauty Of Decay, great! Vrij Nederland publiceerde foto's van winkels en etalages van de fotograaf Stephan Vanfleteren. Hij vond vervallen facades in heel België: een melancholisch portret van verdwijnende kleine winkels, gesloten dorpscafés, verlaten bordelen en dichtgetimmerde gevels. De schoonheid van verval, prachtig! Het valt nog niet mee om die in Tilburg te vinden, maar als ze er zijn, dan gaan we ze de komende tijd laten zien. We beginnen met een winkel die doet denken aan Malle Pietje uit de televisieserie Swiebertje.

More alarming is that these small, beautiful shops are 'decaying' in a way that they are being replaced by shopping centers....which have no character at all, pity.

Prachtige foto, Peter! Ik zag dat Stefan wederom een prijs heeft gewonnen. Wat een fotograaf! Het kunstwerk op mijn foto is trouwens van Rik van Rijswick, ik ken hem verder niet. Dus weet niet of hij ook iets in Groningen heeft staan. Deze krijger is trouwens 7 meter hoog. Groet Jeroen
